FREE Reality Copywriting Teleseminar With Live Tour of my First Info-Product Site

It’s been a challenging three months! I’ve been busy releasing my first information product.
(Actually, it is my second. My first was a continuity program for natural health doctors. It involved a monthly newsletter/CD teaching them how to market their clinics effectively. That lasted about two months, before I realized I had too much on my plate).
The information product that I’ll be launching next week, however, has NOTHING to do with marketing, copywriting or “money-making.” It is a print volume plus audio (with several bonuses) detailing information that will help women with a particular health problem.
I’ve been working with a naturopathic doctor. He receives a commission for his expertise, name and assistance. I much prefer a joint-venture relationship like this, with another business owner, than the traditional client-copywriter relationship.
I also like the fact that I get to “run the show” and pay the “client.” Because, more important than the copy itself, is how it’s used.
I’ve seen clients not make full use or not properly use copy I’ve written for them. E.g. Not getting traffic to their website or not investing enough in direct mail. I’ve also had copy ruined because it was handed over to designers who made the web page look like a computer application.
Anyways, in this case, the goal was to make a very high quality product. That took about a month.
The copy for the site and autoresponder series took another month.
All the technical, administrative and design efforts has taken another month.
My wife and 10 month old son are going to relatives tomorrow, so I can devote yet another weekend to finishing up this project.
Though, really the work will have only begun. Next step is lead generation… getting people to the website. As long as the copy proves profitable I’ll be using every means I can to get people to the site. Yes, there will be an affiliate program, but that’s only the beginning…
I’m astounded how many marketers rely exclusively on affiliates to sell their products. I’m not against affiliate marketing at all — I just wouldn’t rely on it. Just as I wouldn’t rely on any other ONE source of lead generation.
So there’ll be still much copy and marketing to implement: press releases, pay-per-click, article writing, direct mail campaigns, blog posts, copy for affiliates, banner ads, magazine display ads…
But, having the site LIVE next week will be a good feeling. Especially after all the work, challenges, setbacks, etc. that have taken place.
I’m thinking about doing a FREE teleseminar next week. I’ll give you a link to the new site so you can see exactly what’s up. I’d then walk you through the process I went through creating this particular product, writing the copy and putting it online. I’ll talk about my plans to generate high volumes of traffic. There’d be time for questions and answer, etc.
If this interests you please leave a comment below. If there’s enough interest, I’ll make it happen.
And trust me, I’ll make sure it’s a high-value seminar. Just because I’m not asking any money for this, I’m realizing I’m asking for your time. It’s often hard to get me to attend a free seminar, simply because I know people often skimp on the content. This won’t happen.
It’ll run for 60-90 minutes. I’ll answer any questions that I can within that time frame, as best I can.
So if you’re interested, just leave a comment below. I’ll keep you updated on whether it’s a go or not.

Thanks for taking the time to show your interest, guys.
I may still do it, but I really need more than four people to make it worthwhile (or do I?).
The site and product we’ve put together for this health niche market is no “quickie” project. It’s NOT (at all) just page of claim-filled copy, an order button and an ebook written in one sitting.
I’ve basically applied magalog copy to the web, using a three-step marketing funnel. It provides a lot of rich information to the visitor to “buy” their time. The product has some common info familiar to this market, but a lot of content that’s quite new and effective.
I’m working on setting up the order links and download page today. Some edits from the fourth round of proofing. Then it’s done. After so much work, it’s hard to believe.
If more people leave comments saying they’d like the seminar happen (e.g. 12-50+) then I’ll make it a reality. I guarantee, whether you’re new at this, or old, it’s won’t be disappointing. I’m not going to regurgitate the same-old IM stuff you’re used to hearing.

OK John, I’m in. I have appreciated the straightforward, no nonsense way you have handled your ezine and email. I believe an inside look at what you are doing will be very profitable.

You always provide great content, John.
I rarely open emails… but yours… gets opened always.
Count me in! Just let me know when and where — I’ll be there.

I’m very interested. I might pick up a client soon who is writing a medical related book. I’d be interested dodging any mistakes or hurdles you run into with this project.

John…schedule willing, I’d love to take a peek at your creative process.
To your success,
Hank

I’m certainly interested, especially since I’m in the process of developing my own info product right now. Not only that, I wondered just how to structure the kind of deal you’re doing. How much the expert gets paid, etc.
December 9th, 2007 at 9:28 pm
Here’s another newby to add to your list, John! Go for it! Hope I can keep up.
Cheers!

I just started using an info product (Audio CD) as a bonus on our For Goji Berries . com website as a bonus to differentiate ourselves from the competition.
That’s may way of edging into the info product business.
December 10th, 2007 at 12:00 am
Oops.
I must be getting tired.
I pressed “submit comment” by mistake.
Yes, of course I’d be interested in a telesemiar. I’ve learned a lot about the info business in the last couple of years. But I’m still not doing it…
So, perhaps another success story will finally get me going?
December 10th, 2007 at 8:07 am
Well, that’s more than 12 thumbs up. The list has 1200. So that’s a 1% conversion. Good enough.
Thanks for all the kind words about the content provided through Reality Copywriting.
I’ll be dealing with a lot of copywriting aspects to this project — not just internet marketing. Actually, I feel the value of the copy is being ignored nowadays, online. I wrote the copy to this as if it were a direct mail piece - pretending I didn’t have several other aspects to the marketing funnel in place.
Brian, I worked with freeteleconference.com for a while. They messed me up real bad. I had paid two experts to do a live interview/teleconference. I already had people who prepaid for the recording. They ended up sending me someone else’s teleconference recording. Ignored all my emails to get my recording or compensation. I’ve heard similar stories from other people. I stick to LiveOffice now. More expensive but reliable service.
Hank, I’ll make the recording of the teleseminar available, so even if you can’t make the live call, you’ll still hear it.
Perry, yes, structuring the deal with the expert is tricky business. I messed it up. I’ll let you know how I’d do it were I to do it again.
Mike, that’s real smart. Offering info products along with hard products is a great way to add a lot of added value without a lot of extra expense.
Back to work for me. I thought I’d have the site done yesterday, but it’s not. Still to go…
1. Latest proofing edits (10-20 minutes).
2. The opening credits of the ebook recorded by my wife for the audio version and added to the download page. (30 minutes).
3. Three more download pages (10-30 minutes) for each offer. The Paypal process for these are already done.
4. Setting up two autoresponders (one for prospects one for buyers) with confirmation pages (1-2 hours).
5. PayPal + Download Page (30 minutes) for secondary product (given away free as a bonus for the main product).
6. Write 3 of the follow up coaching messages (60 minutes) for the buyer’s autoresponder.
Should be able to get all that done today. Let my partner test everything out. I hope to have a link to you all tomorrow so you can check it out before the teleseminar tour.
I’ll probably do the teleseminar Wednesday afternoon. But I’ll get back to you on that. Maybe Friday afternoon.
John

Hey John,
Stumbled on your website and just signed up for your newsletter and I’m glad I did.
It’s excellent!
Thanks for making a recording available, some of us still have day jobs so the recording of the seminar is very much appreciated.
P.S. Will you have video and audio?
Thanks again,
Marty

Hey John,
I’ve been following your newsletter. I like your open, sharing approach.
Your project looks like a few things I’m putting together for a few clients now.
I plan to catch your call tomorrow. Interested in the process and the deal you struck with your client.
Thanks,
Walt

Thanks, everybody, for your thumbs up.
No, there won’t be any visual (definitely audio though). I’ll be pointing you to different parts of the site, so stay by your browsers.
This is my first solo teleseminar. I’ve been a guest speaker on teleseminars in the past, but never “ran the show.” I think audio will be enough of a chellenge for me.
