A Car Dealer, a Naval Reserve Sentry and a Hollywood Composer Turned Copywriters
Well, it looks like the Earth wasn’t swallowed up by some gigantic black hole — as many people feared would happen today.
Nope. At 10:36 am (Geneva Time) the $3.8 billion Large Hadron Collider completed it’s first major test, firing protons around a 27-kilometer, underground tunnel beneath the Swiss-French border… and mankind was not reduced to anti-matter.
As you may have read, scientists across the world are watching the results - trying to gain insight into the Big Bang from which our universe first formed.
Well timed, as this evening, at 8pm (Toronto/New York Time) Shaune Clarke will be causing a few Big Bang “ah-ha” moments for those forming their USPs at the “Craft Your Own Untouchable Copywriter’s USP” group coaching teleconference.
As a member of the audience, you’ll be able to listen in as he coaches an ex-naval reservist, a Ford dealer and an ex-Hollywood soundtrack composer on how to position themselves as a unique copywriter.
Each hot-seater is at a different stage in his copywriting career…
Aaron Stanley (Los Angeles) moved to Hollywood many moons ago to compose music for the movie industry (inspired by John Williams’ “Star Wars” soundtrack).
Not able to sustain himself, he ended up a computer technician, then a bookkeeper and finally a marketing director. Nine months ago he left all that for the freelance copywriting life. He’s making as much as $9,000 a month writing copy and is eager to start generating more leads.
Aaron’s three biggest pet-peeves are Negativity. Extreme skepticism. Entitlement mentality.
“Anyone can be, do or have anything they choose,” he says. “Your life is a gift. Do with it what you will.”
D.K. Fynn (Ottawa) has spent 9 years as a naval reservist. When not serving as an armed based sentry at military establishments he’s hosted restaurants and competed in fitness shows. He’s currently a university student working towards his entrepreneurship degree while seeking his first paying copywriting client.
One of his biggest pet-peeves is: “When a partner or team member (or heck, a client) says that they’ll do something (like get the funds they need to pay me for work I’ve already done), and they fall short. (I’m taking steps to make sure that I don’t allow this to happen to me again).”
His two favorite books are “The Power of Intention” and “You’ll See It When You Believe It” by Wayne Dyer.
Mike Sheridan (Dallas), after spending the last seven years selling Ford vehicles to small and medium sized businesses, plans to go full-time as a copywriter in January 2009. He has a passion for “green buildings” and would love to write copy in this area.
For fun and profit, he buys ands sell on eBay. Otherwise he enjoys travel photography and Sunday motorcycle rides.
“This past year,” Mike says, “I’ve mostly bought products related to learning all I can about copywriting. In the process I’ve reduced my bank account and increased the authors’!”
As you can see, we have a great line-up for our “reality TV” style coaching call tonight.
If you register for the free teleconference, not only will you receive a copy of the same “Your Dynamic Positioning” exercise sheets Aaron, DK and Mike have used - you’ll be able to download their completed copies.
Then, at 8pm (EST) Shaune’s going to work one-on-one with each of them - refining their USP and giving them guidance on how to write it into their self-promo copy.
Without a USP, you’re just another “copywriter.” It’s very hard to compete.
Instead, you need to target specific types of clients and offer to fulfill their unique copywriting needs. The easiest way to sell is to offer exactly what someone wants. You only need a few clients to keep you very busy.
Why be a copywriting-jack-of-all-trades trying to please every possible client who might (big MIGHT) give you money?
If you haven’t registered for this evening’s free coaching call, you can do so here (plus read some of the best advice I’ve ever received for landing copywriting clients)…

Unless, Geneva’s photon collider has a backlash and planet Earth is vaporized from the Milky Way, you should make sure you’re on tonight’s coaching call.
